APPROACH & VALUES

What it’s Like to Work With Them

Annette works in genuine partnership with teams, taking time to understand context, strengths, and aspirations before co‑designing solutions. Her approach blends cultural intelligence, reflective practice, and evidence‑informed experimentation, supporting shared decision‑making and future‑focused, sustainable change.

Care, respect and authenticity guide Annettes work. She takes time to understand context, strengths, and lived experience, working in ways that uphold mana and honour relationships. Her values centre on inclusion, dignity, and culturally grounded practice, supporting organisations and educators in shaping sustainable, future‑focused pathways.

Leading the Aotearoa New Zealand Dyslexia-Friendly Quality Mark (DFQM), I worked alongside 25 tertiary education providers to transform their practice.

Organisations built on their existing strengths to develop a cohesive, organisation‑wide approach while bringing their flavour, culture and creativity to the quality mark. Tutors began proactively adapting resources, support staff felt confident responding to diverse needs, and learners reported feeling genuinely seen, heard, and included.

This wasn’t just about achieving accreditation; it was about collaborative reflection, evidence‑informed change, and building capability that continues to this day. Seeing that kind of sustainable shift where values and practice align is what grounds me in this mahi.
